Infinite Paradise Island: Heralding a New Year Filled with Endless Possibilities
The centerpiece of the 2025 Taiwan Lantern Festival, titled Infinite Paradise Island, is a masterpiece by renowned artist Akibo Lee. Rather than a literal depiction of a snake, the design uses abstract symbols to create a dynamic and visually striking language. Positioned at Taoyuan’s gateway, the lantern narrates the stories of “Taiwan connecting with the world” and “Light Connects All,” while symbolizing endless possibilities for the new year.
The Tourism and Travel Department noted that ponds are a uniquely charming geographical feature of Taoyuan. This year’s lantern festival is themed “Light Connects All.” In addition to the Main Lantern Exhibition Area planned by the Tourism Administration, MOTC, Taoyuan City, known as a youthful city, where many parents enjoy taking their children on outings, boasts a thriving family-friendly service industry. As part of the Taiwan Lantern Festival, the city government has specially created the “Lights Playground” near Taoyuan Metro A19 Station. Trial operations for this immersive light exhibition are set to begin on February 7, 2025. The event will feature five main themes: “Vibrant Light Hub,” “Bright Horizons Theater,” “City Spotlight,” “Welcome to Chintan Park,” and “Fortune’s Glow.” Incorporating smart city elements, circus performances, and light and shadow theaters alongside imagery of multicultural harmony and interfaith goodwill, creating an immersive light feast that features interactive experiences for families, playful games, and a vibrant atmosphere. The festival invites people from across the country to visit Taoyuan next year to witness the grandest lantern celebration. Through the Taiwan Lantern Festival, Taoyuan will light up Taiwan’s gateway and warmly welcome international visitors to explore Taiwan.
